For nearly 60 years, Olivet Christian Nursery School, or OCNS, has been a premier leader in preschool education, serving children ages 3-5 in our community. With a low student/teacher ratio, OCNS provides a nurturing, fun-loving environment for kindergarten preparedness. Our play-based age-appropriate curriculum is aligned with and exceeds the State of Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards.
Olivet Christian Nursery School is a non-profit preschool founded in 1967 by Olivet Lutheran Church member Virginia Wiese. Children attending OCNS must be 3 on or before July 31st of the year they will begin preschool and be potty trained. As a parent cooperative preschool, OCNS allows parents/guardians to be directly involved in their child’s early education. Parents and teachers will work together to foster a life-long love of learning in a positive, creative environment.
We offer a half-day program (9:00-11:30):
- Preschool 1 (T/Th) includes children who are three years old or have recently turned four.
- Preschool 2 (M, W, F or M-F) includes children who are four or five years old and will begin kindergarten the following school year.
- Lunch Bunch (11:30-12:30; M, W, Th) is an optional program that allows students the opportunity to eat and play together outside of the classroom setting to prepare them for the lunch room in elementary school.
We believe that children learn best in a play-based environment, nurtured by experienced and caring teachers. Our staff is comprised of well-trained, loving teachers. We are committed to creating a loving and creative learning environment to develop the social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth of each individual child. The educational needs of the whole child are facilitated through a developmentally appropriate theme-based curriculum, which is designed to exceed the State of Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards.
Although class size may vary slightly, each class will have no more than 20 students with one to two teachers (depending on enrollment) and will maintain an excellent ratio of 10 students: 1 teacher.
